Vapid Kitten
Anyone who ever relished the experience of a handheld, lovingly photocopied fanzine will understand there are some things a screen just won’t bring you. Still, why fight innovation? Issue 4 of Vapid Kitten explores the dichotomy between analogue and digital, questioning whether the two can happily co-exist. There are pieces on computer-aided fashion design, laser-cutting and embroidery as well as a glimpse at the specials collection at the Manchester Metropolitan University library, with several pages adorned with cute collages of reels, videos, USB sticks, mobiles, laptops, cameras, discs — you name it. Ultimately, the zine flies for the flag for both camps, happily making way for exciting new developments while keeping old practices alive.
