If Destroyed Still True is a perzine by Nine, an Irish writer living in Berlin. The theme this issue is the Eurovision Song Contest, which Nine and her friends congregate to watch, awarding points to each contestant based on criteria such as gimmicks, outfits and choreography. The completed score sheet is also the zine’s cover, so you can see just how Armenia shaped up against Belarus. As well as this, Nine discusses several more personal topics, such as break-ups, hickeys, self-esteem, bereavement and that morning-after lurch she terms “the hangover of the soul”. She also includes pieces from 2008, writing eloquently and insightfully about relationships and some of the strange encounters she’s had on her travels.
