Did I mention that we’ve been building up a stash of football fanzines on the sly? This loving tribute to Grimsby Town FC was donated by Chris. The team has had its fair share of bad weather, and Sing When We’re Fishing goes right to the heart of the matter, bellyaching and all — with criticism, self-deprecating humour and slightly inscrutable quotations from a freshly departed manager. Without inside knowledge of Grimsby Town’s history, it’s difficult to pinpoint the date this was printed, but it looks like a late 80s effort. Best of all is the letters page, in which supporters share their stories of being a Grimsby faithful. We’ll let a disgruntled Andrew have the last word: “My visits to Blundell Park and away matches are sadly limited to school holidays — yes, we work on Saturdays, some would say unlike Grimsby Town for the last two seasons.” Ouch.
